The celebration and blessing of the marriage of Melissa Kathryn Jones and Peyton Cole Cavin was held on the grounds of historic Longwood in Natchez, Mississippi, on September 24, 2016, at half past six in the evening. The ceremony was officiated by the Reverend Walton W. Jones of Trinity Episcopal Church in Natchez, Mississippi.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gregory Brice Jones of Slidell, Louisiana, and the granddaughter of the late Mr. S. S. “Ike” Hall, Jr., and Mrs. Ceocia Hall from Lake Charles, Louisiana, and of the late Mr. Charles Blackwell and Mrs. Myra Blackwell of Slidell.

The groom is the son of Mr. Carlton Ray Cavin of Woodville, Mississippi, and Mrs. Rhonda Carpenter Chisholm of Magnolia, Mississippi, and the grandson of Mrs. Virginia Cavin and the late Wallace “Ned” Cavin of Woodville and Mr. and Mrs. Cheley Carpenter of Magnolia, Mississippi.

The bride wore a designer wedding gown by Paloma Blanca, made of  ivory silk. The bodice was covered with French lace, and her cathedral-length veil was bordered with French lace.

Attending the wedding couple as maid of honor was Erin Regene Kennedy of New Orleans, Louisiana; and Laramie Chance Cavin of Madison, Mississippi, served as best man. Brynleigh Ann Jones of Slidell was the  flower girl; and George Stewart Jones of Slidell served as usher. Amy Lynn Burch and Carrie Catherine Burch were program attendants.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride processed across the grounds onto the front steps of Longwood to Pachelbel’s “Canon in D”; and following the ceremony the wedding party recessed to Mendelssohn’s “Wedding March.” Music for the ceremony was provided by Cherish McCallum of Natchez.

The reception also was held on the grounds of Longwood where a tented area provided the setting for the band playing its music and for the families’ and guests’ dancing and celebrating throughout the evening. The bride and groom departed  from the historic home as guests, lining the brick walkway, waved glittered shakers sending the couple off.

On September 3 a bridal jazz lunch, providing entertainment for the bridal party and family members, was held in Slidell, Louisiana, at the home of Cathy Henderson.  On the eve of the wedding, the groom’s family hosted a rehearsal dinner upstairs at The Camp Restaurant in Natchez Under the Hill, overlooking the Mississippi River. Out-of-town family, friends, and wedding-party members enjoyed dinner in the glow of the sun, setting in the western sky.

The couple are at home in Natchez, Mississippi.
